I was riding in the car with my husband. We were heading back to my hometown for an early Easter celebration with family.
The night before, he had sent me a reel about “imposter syndrome” — which I had ignored, because there are so many reels and honestly, who has time to watch them all?
The next day he said, “You need to watch that.”
We had a two-hour car ride ahead of us, so I figured now was as good a time as any.
Ironically, he had sent it to me while lying flat on his back in our laundry room — he had thrown his back out trying to grab socks stuck in the back of the dryer.
He said, “I think God laid me flat on my back just so I would see that reel and send it to you.”
And honestly… he might be right.
As I watched it, I realized how accurate it was.
Of course, my husband was very pleased with himself for being right — but it also opened the door to a deeper conversation.
We started talking about how God often calls us to things we don’t feel ready for.
Things we don’t feel equipped to handle.
Things that make us feel like an imposter.
But if God is the one who calls us, then He has already given us what we need to take the next step.
Our role is not to have everything figured out.
Our role is to trust Him, to be faithful, and to move forward in obedience — one step at a time.
And when pride tries to creep in and take credit, we can remind ourselves:
None of this is ours to take credit for.
God is the one who gives us our gifts, our opportunities, and the strength to move forward.
And even when we don’t feel particularly gifted or capable — God can still use us.
He deserves the glory.
There are so many examples of this throughout the Bible.
People like Abraham and Moses didn’t feel equipped for what God was asking of them.
And yet, where God leads, He provides.
We don’t have to understand the whole picture.
We don’t have to feel ready.
We just have to take the step He is asking us to take — trusting that His strength will meet us there.
I’ll be honest — sometimes it feels like God has the worst timing.
We know that’s not actually true. God’s timing is perfect.
But from our human perspective, it doesn’t always make sense.
I felt like I was in the middle of what seemed like 47 different life crises, trying to hold everything together…
And that’s when God said, “Go.”
Now is the time.

This is it.
I had to lay everything down.
My need to control the outcome.
My desire to delay.
My instinct to pull back.
All of it.
All of my fears.
All of my hesitation.
All of my doubt.
I had to leave it in the river.
Because at some point, you can’t carry both:
Your calling and everything you’re afraid to let go of.
It was time to step forward in faith.
Not because I felt ready.
Not because I had everything figured out.
But because God had asked me to.
And even when I fall — and I will — I trust that He will catch me.
Because we are imperfect people.
And yet, God still chooses to use us as part of His plan.
If God is asking you to step forward, you don’t have to carry everything with you. Some things were never meant to come with you – and the things that are, He will help you carry.
2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
